IMVU allows users to create and control their own avatar in a 3D chat environment. Unfortunately, IMVU has also been associated with viruses, particularly if you download the program from a third party, rather than IMVU's official website. If you have an IMVU virus, you'll need to do two things: uninstall IMVU, then run your virus scanning software. If you don't uninstall IMVU first, you risk having the program reinstall the virus as soon as you remove it.

- Click "Start," then "Control Panel."
- Click "Uninstall a Program." Wait for the list of programs to populate.
- Right click on "IMVU," then select "Uninstall/Change."
- Click "Yes" to confirm the uninstall process.
- Wait for Windows Installer to remove IMVU.
- Run your anti-virus program. If you don't have one, you can download AVG, Avast!, or Avira for free. If there is any sign of the IMVU virus still present, your anti-virus program will find it and eliminate it.
