Windows 7 Internet Explorer Keyboard Shortcuts



Keyboard shortcuts make it possible to navigate the Internet Explorer user interface without
having to move your hand away from the mouse. Internet Explorer 8 supports virtually
all of the keyboard shortcuts supported by earlier Internet Explorer versions, but it
also adds a slew of new shortcuts related to new functionality in this version. Summarizes the Internet Explorer 8 keyboard shortcuts.

  • Alt+left arrow key----------------Navigate to the previous page.
  • Alt+right arrow key--------------Navigate to the next page.
  • Esc----------------------------------Stop the current page from loading.
  • F5 or Ctrl+R or Ctrl+F5--------Refresh (reload) the current page.
  • Alt+Home--------------------------Go to your home page.
  • Alt+D--------------------------------Select the address bar.
  • Ctrl+Ente---------------------------Automatically add www and .com to what you typed                                       .                                                 in the address bar.
  • Spacebar--------------------------Scroll down the Web page.
  • Shift+spacebar-------------------Scroll up the Web page.
  • Alt+F4-------------------------------Close the current window.
  • Ctrl+D-------------------------------Add the current page to your Favorites list.
  • Alt+Nitem--------------------------Select the information bar.
  • Shift+F10--------------------------Open the context menu for the currently selected item.                                    
  • Shift+mouse click----------------Open the link in a new window.
  • Ctrl+mouse click-----------------Open the link in a new tab but do not select that tab.
  • Ctrl+Shift+mouse click---------Open the link in new tab and navigate to that tab.
  • Ctrl+T--------------------------------Open a new tab.
  • Alt+Enter---------------------------Open a new tab from the address bar.
  • Ctrl+Tab----------------------------Switch between available tabs.
  • Ctrl+Shift+Tab--------------------Switch between available tabs in the opposite direction.
  • Ctrl+W ----------------------------Close the current tab (or current window if no tabs are open).
  • Ctrl+9------------------------------Switch to the last tab.
  • Ctrl+Alt+F4 ----------------------Close other tabs.
  • Ctrl+Q ----------------------------Open Quick Tabs.
  • Ctrl+(+) or Ctrl+(=) ------------Zoom the page by 10 percent.
  • Ctrl+(-) ----------------------------Decrease the page zoom by 10 percent.
  • Ctrl+0 ----------------------------Zoom to 100 percent (normal view).
  • Ctrl+E ----------------------------Navigate to the Toolbar Search box.
  • Alt+Enter -----------------------Open Search in a new window.
